Overview:
Our client, a leading global transportation and logistics provider, is seeking an operations manager to join their Thailand team. In this role, you will oversee and manage all operational functions of the branch, ensuring smooth and efficient execution of shipments. The position requires excellent coordination with internal teams, shipping lines, agents, and customers to resolve escalations promptly and maintain operational efficiency. Additionally, the Operations Manager will support the sales and admin teams, while ensuring compliance and driving profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead daily operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of the branch.
Manage operational escalations, customer interactions, and liner communications to prevent delays.
Liaise with shipping lines regarding bookings, debit notes, and shipment issues.
Coordinate with Finance for liner payments and prioritize critical payments.
Ensure timely manifest filing for shipments ex-Indonesia and the release of House Bill of Lading (HB/L) and Master Bill of Lading (MB/L).
Follow up with back-office teams to close jobs on time with correct profit reporting.
Track nomination shipments and respond promptly to agents.
Provide operational support to the Sales team and act as a key liaison.
Serve as backup for operations during critical periods or staff absence.
Provide accurate rate quotations and competitive pricing to agents.
Coordinate and ensure timely signing of agreements with liners and agents.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Minimum 7 years of experience in Freight Forwarding or Logistics operations, with demonstrated leadership experience.
In-depth understanding of freight processes, including cross-trade operations.
Strong communication skills in both English and Thai, with the ability to coordinate and manage teams effectively.
Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously, working under pressure, and resolving issues efficiently.
Knowledge of documentation processes, profit tracking, and cost management.
Proficient in MS Office applications and operational ERP systems.
Comfortable collaborating with Indian teams and working in a cross-cultural environment.
