Job Summary / Scope

Oversee in-process and pre-shipment quality evaluations of subcontractor-fabricated equipment, monitor adherence to project schedules, and, when requested, support Supply Management in maintaining and managing the commercial relationship with subcontractors.

Primary Duties

• Conducting audits and reviews of supplier quality systems and programs to ensure compliance and effectiveness.

• Evaluating technical specifications of subcontracted equipment to confirm alignment with Vogt Power International (VPI) and customer requirements, including quality system and manufacturing standards.

• Performing comprehensive assessments throughout all manufacturing phases at the fabrication facility, including dimensional and visual inspections of equipment, assemblies, subassemblies, components, and welds.

• Ensuring all inspections comply with applicable codes, standards, project specifications, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

• Supervising third-party inspectors engaged in quality control activities, ensuring adherence to established Quality Planning documents.

• Documenting all inspection and assessment results in accordance with project and quality requirements.

• Creating detailed inspection plans for subcontracted equipment.

• Coordinating and/or conducting subcontractor Preproduction Meetings and reviews of manufacturing and quality control procedures.

• Reviewing and evaluating subcontractor manufacturing schedules.

• Supporting subcontractors in developing manufacturing plans that meet both quality and schedule requirements.

• Reporting progress using established Supply Management tracking tools.

• Facilitating resolution of technical issues with VPI Engineering or other relevant technical entities.

• Coordinating delivery and inspection of VPI-supplied materials to subcontractors.

• Assisting in the management of commercial aspects of the subcontractor agreement.

Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

• Minimum of a high school diploma. At least two years of Engineering or Science coursework at an accredited university.

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in supervising steel fabrication practices relevant to VPI products.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively convey equipment requirements and inspection findings to suppliers and internal stakeholders.

• Ability to obtain special inspection qualifications or certifications as required by customer and code standards (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Inspector)

• Demonstrated experience in managing subcontracts or related procurement activities.

• Must be capable of accessing and visually inspecting fabricated equipment in elevated or confined spaces.

• Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods during inspections at fabrication facilities.

• Comfortable working in industrial environments, including exposure to heat, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and fall protection gear.

• Extensive travel may be required, including international assignments.

• Good command of English and Thai in both written and spoken communication.
